Okay, Gals, lets get real. Procrastination is a disease, and I’ve suffered my whole life. It poisons all your attempts to be successful at anything. It can make you binge watch a season of The Office without even blinking when there’s 20 other things you SHOULD be doing for your business! Does this sound familiar to anyone?
Pushing a project aside until the last possible moment it needs to be done?
If you're wanting to UPLEVEL in life, you have to kick this crazy procrastination bug to the curb! Lets discuss three way to overcome this issue- Let’s get things done without putting our projects off until we are stressed out of our minds… How can we do this?
1) Ditch perfectionism.
If you are waiting to start a project, business or follow your DREAMS because you need to have everything “in order” before you begin. You have to just start! Nothing gets done perfectly on the first try. You are only human. You can start something and if it’s not going the way you like, you can try again. But TRY. Don’t wait, because so many people wait for all their ducks to be in a line and then, it’s too late. Life will never be perfect, so just begin! I promise you’ll be so thankful you did!
2) Do the most important thing first!
An amazing author and speaker, Brian Tracy, wrote a book called, Eat that Frog. It’s all about overcoming procrastination. He teaches his readers to “Eat the frog” or tackle your hardest or biggest project first! Think about the thing you’d want to get done because it will take the heaviest burden off your shoulders. Or think about the project that has a deadline. Don’t push those off, do them in the morning, first thing! You will feel so productive and be able to mark those things off your to do list like a boss!
3) The 20/10 Rule
We have so much on our plates as business women, lots of us are moms and wives as well. Or maybe you’re working a full-time job for someone else and coming home and working your own business and chasing your dreams. Whatever you’re doing, life is busy for everyone and can be overwhelming. Overwhelm is a common cause of procrastination. “Ahh, I’m so overwhelmed, I’m just going to sit here and eat oreos!” haha. Have you done that? I have! Okay so this rule or method, 20/10 is 20 minutes of productivity, 10 minutes of rest. If you don’t feel like you can get things done, just commit to 20 minutes. Then you can take a break for 10 minutes and then back at it. Sometimes when I do this, I find myself get into a groove and pump out a couple hours of work when I only told myself 20 minutes. It works gals! Try it.
Try these three things TODAY, don’t wait until you’re ready. Just do them. Overcome procrastination and then share with us all of the thing you got done. We want you to be the successful #bossbabe you’ve always dreamt of being. You have everything inside you already, just begin. No more excuses, procrastination or feeling of overwhelm. You got this!
